Kathryn A. Midyett
Kathryn (Katie) Midyett joined the McFarlin and Brokke team in 2004. In 2009, she moved to Wichita, KS, supporting Regier, Carr & Monroe LLP. In 2019, she rejoined the McFarlin & Brokke staff.
Katie provides clients with an array of accounting services. Her areas of expertise include performing audits and reviews of both profit and not-for-profit entities as well as employee benefit plan audits. Katie assists both small businesses and individuals with tax preparation.
Industry clients Katie assists frequently include non-profits, professional services, and wholesale and retail distributors.
Katie has been involved as a volunteer for equine therapy programs, and she coaches youth sports.
Katie earned her Bachelor degree in Business Administration & Accounting from the University of Nebraska, Omaha in 2004. Professionally, Katie belongs to the American Institute of CPAs and the Nebraska Society of CPAs.
Katie’s interests include watching her daughter compete in sports, spending time with family, traveling, and cooking.
Michael R. McFarlin
Retired Partner, CPA
Michael McFarlin served as president of the company from 1992 (when his predecessor, president and founder, Jay Quick, retired) through 2018. With 43 years as a CPA in Omaha, Michael has extensive experience in strategic business planning, succession planning, estate planning, commercial audits, corporate mergers, forensic accounting, and litigation.
Michael McFarlin has served on the boards of Omaha non-profit organizations including: Omaha Rotary, Omaha Rotary Foundation, Visiting Nurses Association, Omaha Home for Boys, and the Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
Additionally, he has been active on the corporate boards of Marine Bank–Omaha, and Core Technologies, Inc.
Michael’s professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants and SPN - Senior Partner Network, (an affiliation of CPA firms with offices in New York, Massachusetts, Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, Texas and Nebraska).
Mr. McFarlin holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. He earned his CPA credentials in 1976.
Piloting airplanes, traveling, and playing with his granddaughter are among his favorite activities.
Quinn M. Rochford
Senior Accountant, CPA
Quinn Rochford joined the McFarlin & Brokke team in 2016.
Quinn has expertise and experience in tax preparation for individuals and business entities. Additionally, he assists clients with QuickBooks, bookkeeping, and business consulting.
Industry clients that Quinn assists frequently include tradepersons (i.e. plumbers, painters, HVAC), construction entities, realtors, insurance agents, property managers, hairstylists, health & fitness entities, and professional services.
Quinn also serves as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor - providing set up, synchronizing applications, correcting problems, and providing ongoing support for clients at all stages of business growth.
Quinn is a volunteer with Project Wee Care and serves on the board of the Omaha GOATS. Professionally, Quinn is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Nebraska Society of CPAs.
In 2016, Quinn earned a dual degree Bachelor of Professional Accountancy and Bachelor in Finance from Wayne State College. In 2017, Quinn earned his Master of Professional Accountancy degree from the University of Nebraska, Omaha.
Quinn’s hobbies include competitive rugby, weightlifting, yoga, and socializing with friends.
Melissa J. Travis
Melissa Travis has been contributing to the McFarlin & Brokke team since 2007, becoming a Senior Accountant in 2009.
Melissa provides clients of McFarlin & Brokke with a variety of accounting services. Her areas of expertise include non-profit auditing, individual and corporate taxation, and quarterly and annual payroll reporting.
Additionally, Melissa serves as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor - providing set up, synchronizing applications, correcting problems, and providing ongoing support for clients at all stages of business growth.
Industry clients that Melissa assists frequently include auto dealerships and services, professional services, restaurants, professional real estate developers, and 1031 exchange.
Contributing to local community efforts, Melissa has held several board positions with Executive Women International Omaha Chapter. Melissa volunteers in endeavors to support the Open Door Mission, The Angel Project, and Girls Inc.
In 2007, Melissa received her Bachelor in Accountancy and a Certificate of Entrepreneurship from the University of Iowa.
Among her many interests, Melissa enjoys traveling, gardening, golfing, following Royals baseball and Hawkeye football, and spending time with friends and family.
Jacy Judds joined the McFarlin & Brokke team in 2020. In the four years prior to joining McFarlin & Brokke, Jacy served clients of Seim Johnson.
Specializing in tax preparation for clients, Jacy also provides services in financial statement audits and employee benefit plan audits.
In 2017, Jacy received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. In 2018, Jacy earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska, Omaha.
Jacy’s interests include reading, taking her golden retriever “Hank” to the dog park, and camping with family.
Katherine Lorkovic finds it a pleasure to support the fine team and wonderful clients of McFarlin & Brokke, PC.
Katherine’s career background has been rich and diverse. For eight years, she served as an elementary school teacher in the Sandhills of Nebraska and Elkhorn, Nebraska. Following, she was the Senior Editor, Copywriter and Merchandiser of Fat Brain Toys for nine years. An interest in home interiors led her to serving clients in the design and decoration of their homes – an endeavor she continues today. In 2016, she joined the team of McFarlin & Brokke as Office Manager.
Katherine has been involved as a volunteer for Team Jack Foundation - an organization on a mission to find a cure for childhood brain cancer.
Katherine received her Bachelor of Elementary Education in 1993 from Emporia State University. She received her Master of Education in 2000 from the University of Nebraska. In 2016, she received an Associate Degree in Interior Design from Metropolitan Community College, Omaha.
Katherine’s interests include home interior decoration and design, gardening, visiting flea markets, estate sales, and art galleries, traveling, and spending time with her family.
